JOHN HUMPHREY, Trinidad + Tobago

John Humphrey formally served as Minister of Housing and Settlements and the Minister of Integrated Planning and Development of Trinidad and Tobago.  He was also responsible for the Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago Ltd. Born on 19th February, 1933, he has been involved in the Construction and Architecture field for over 40 years after leaving McGill University.

Mr. Humphrey has had a long political career serving as an Opposition Senator from 1977 to 1981 and representing the St Augustine Constituency in the House of Representatives since 1981.

Mr. Humphrey has had a long political career serving as an Opposition Senator from 1977 to 1981 and representing the St Augustine Constituency in the House of Representatives since 1981. Mr. John Humphrey was sworn in as Minister of Integrated Planning and Development on December 22, 2000.  In this capacity, he is responsible for Economic Planning, Development and Programme, National Manpower Planning, National Statistics, Population, Town and Country Planning, Urban Development, Socio-Economic Policy Research and Planning, Public Sector Investment Programme and Technical Co-operation Projects and Programmes.  He is also responsible for the Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago Ltd.

Mr. Humphrey was born on February 19, 1933.  He has been involved in the Construction and Architecture field for over 40 years after leaving McGill University.  He developed the Sou Sou Land Concept in 1983.

Mr. Humphrey has had a long political career serving as an Opposition Senator from 1977 to 1981 and representing the St Augustine Constituency in the House of Representatives since 1981.  He formerly served as Minister of Housing and Settlements for the period 1995 to 2000.

Mr. Humphrey is married and is the father of two.  His recreational activities include fishing, swimming and boating.
